At Peterlee, we design, develop and manufacture Articulated trucks and serve all regions of the world. Articulated trucks is an all-weather, all terrain hauling unit which is designed for use in pioneering applications where underfoot conditions are too poor for on highway trucks or rigid quarry trucks. Our trucks are used in general and heavy construction, mining and quarry applications. Caterpillar Peterlee has start to end manufacturing in one location – first operations to shipping final product to customer. During this two-year rotational training programme, you will be given the opportunity to experience different aspects of value chain management, designed to provide you with an excellent foundation in the function. From day one you will be embedded in a team solving real world problems. You will get to work and collaborate with people in Caterpillar facilities and suppliers worldwide.
Rotations may include:
• Supplier quality management
• Cost management for components we buy from suppliers
• Evaluating and developing cost optimized design solutions driving design for manufacturability to enable overall cost optimization
• Supplier collaboration

What happens after the graduate scheme?
Upon successful completion of the rotational programme, you will be promoted into a Supplier Collaboration Engineer role. The Supply Collaboration Engineer leads the supplier collaboration throughout the NPI (New Product Introduction) process to deliver on NPI commitments, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) requirements and LCP (low cost provider) cost targets for their respective components, systems and/or categories. Additional functional responsibilities include: supplier selection at a part- number level aligned to category strategies, supplier tooling validation & management, design for X elements & provide PFEP (Plan for every Part) requirements to deliver on engineered value chains.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for people who are open minded, excellent problem solvers and who have an ability to learn quickly. Good communication and interpersonal skills are required to work collaboratively with multiple internal functions and external suppliers.
Applicants should have achieved a minimum of 2:2 in an Engineering related degree subject such as Mechanical or Industrial engineering. The target start date for this position is January 2020.
We will consider degrees outside these if individuals show some technical competence and a willingness to learn.
