Summary

As a Quality Inspector, you will perform the duties associated with the Quality inspection of engine blocks and cylinder heads machined for Caterpillar Diesel Engines. Quality Inspectors report to Section Managers and will be assigned to departments within the business to meet customer and company demands.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

 

Performs duties assigned within the Assembly department including but not limited to: 

  •  Ensure that parts and materials used in the assembly process are free from quality defects
  • Assist other departments with problem solving or improvement ideas related to assembly
  • Perform audits and carry out quality inspections to correct known defects 
  • All other duties as assigned

Performs duties assigned within the Quality department including but not limited to: 

  • Verifying correct alignment of engine components/genset components using engine/genset schematics and part prints
  • Inspect parts and materials to ensure they are free from quality defects
  • Perform torque audits, leak tests, and visual inspection on all engines
  • All other duties as assigned

 

This position will also: 

•Submit and assist with the resolution of CPS Continuous Improvement cards

•Follow standard operating procedures and area specific work instructions 

•Provide information to supervisors and managers about processes within assigned area

 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* Experience understanding and executing with Standard Operating Processes and Quality work instructions
* Quality, production, materials or logistics experience working with C15, C18, C11, C13, C9, or C8 diesel engines.
* At least 1 year of experience in engine assembly

Desired Qualifications:
* Experience using scanners and PLEX Online Information System to receive, deliver and verify parts and materials
* Experience using blueprints to verify machined parts are within acceptable tolerances
* Experience investigating customer concerns and tracing problems back to the source
