The CAT Oil & Gas and Marine Division has an exciting opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer in Island Lake, Illinois. In this role, you will ensure the manufacturing operations can continue operations without a detrimental impact to the process from a quality perspective.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- From the initial concern, the Supply Network Quality
Engineer will identify, contain and ultimately eliminate the defect.
Skills that will be required include Root-Cause-Corrective-Action Analysis
(RCCA), 8D, rework and containment plans, and strong communication and
collaboration with suppliers.
Managing PPAP and SQEP activities for Control of Externally Provided Processes, Products and Services
Initiating supplier driven containment activity, to ensure production schedules are not prejudiced
Reviewing and approving Corrective Action Plans and establishing framework for Supplier Performance Management (SPM)
Maintaining accountability with the suppliers to establish containment plans related to quality discrepancies
Ensuring supplier is developing corrective action plans to enable operations to continue with minimum disruption
Establishing and maintaining internal Quality metrics by analyzes company strategy, the existing quality policy, historic quality metrics, and customer satisfaction to determine relevant quality objectives
Leadership - This position has no direct reports. The incumbent must
exhibit strong leadership qualities to ensure that suppliers agree to and
deliver Containment Action and facilitate Program Timing and Final Corrective
Action, in accordance with the 8D process. Maintain the highest ethical and
professional standards within this diverse global organization.
Supplier Management -
Responsible for maintaining accountability with the suppliers to establish
containment plans related to quality discrepancies. Will ensure the supplier is
developing corrective action plans to enable operations to continue with
Relationships - maintains
close working relationships with: Suppliers, Quality Groups, Procurement
Groups, Logistics and Material Planning Groups
Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Engineering or STEM
or manufacturing background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes
used to produce components and assemblies for Caterpillar
of shop operations and maintenance procedures
3+ years' of job related Engineering/Quality and/or related experience
Top candidate will also have:
communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
ability to use and demonstrate statistical process control (SPC),
analyzing data and illustrating it in metrics dashboards
- Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative working relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and purchasing systems
