Caterpillar’s Advanced Components Manufacturing (ACM) delivers operational excellence in manufacturing drivetrain, hydraulic components and operator stations. The ACM team includes supply chain, advanced planning, Environmental Health and Safety, and operations managers who align to deliver superior safety, quality, velocity and cost to our business partners 

ACM currently has an opening for a Digital Factory Engineer at our Sumter, SC Hydraulics facility. In this position you will have an opportunity to provide the technical expertise necessary to support and improve the digital manufacturing systems throughout the entire manufacturing environment.


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing, analyzing and managing digital internet of things (IOT) solutions for  Welding, Machining, Assembly, Paint process, Supply Chain, Logistics
  • Implementing automatic data management systems that read/write into standard database architectures (SQL)
  • Developing and leading forward looking multi-generational project plans (MGPP) in the digital space
  • Identifying and leading automation solutions in welding/machining/assembly/paint processes
  • Leading projects that involve manufacturing engineers, IT support staff, operations staff, etc
  • Working with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.
  • Providing the application, procurement, processing, installation and capability of new processes and equipment.
  • Designing, developing and implementing the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation and systems application.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of supply chain, operations, or manufacturing engineering with experience in master data and data structures
  • Experience creating and managing SQL databases
  • Experience analyzing data using Excel, Power Query, and Power BI
  • Experience managing timelines for shop floor implementation of digital technologies


Top candidates will also have:


  • Experience with PLC programming and ladder logic
  • Ability to interact with IT group and familiar with their support model
  • Ability to provide guidance on troubleshooting and root causing problems
  • Ability to train support staff on newly implemented processes
  • Ability to engage in creative problem solving to address operational issues including; ergonomic/safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality concerns
  • Ability to work with internal and external supplier to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products
  • Ability to design, develop and implement the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation and systems applications
