Who are Caterpillar?
Caterpillar has been building the world's infrastructure for over 90 years as the leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines and industrial gas turbines. But beyond this, the organisation has established itself as a technology leader in construction, transportation, mining, forestry, energy, logistics, electronics, financing and electric power generation.
Caterpillar NI Ltd is part of the Caterpillar Global Power Solutions Division. The facility in Larne is responsible for the design, development and manufacture of generator sets which are used primarily in the Electric Power market. Our applications are used as both Primary and Standby Generator power units in key facilities, infrastructures and buildings worldwide.
Who are we?
Supply Chain is at the heart of every business, and here is no exception. Think about the daily sourcing of materials from across the world, then think about how these parts are transported into a company, manufactured, and shipped out to customers within demanding lead-times. This is only a highlight of what it means to work in Supply Chain.
Working within the Supply Chain function means delivering a quality product to a satisfied customer - on time, over and over again. The department is therefore a highly important link between our teams involved in product development, production, and most importantly our customers.
What experiences can we offer you?
This role utilises the Caterpillar Production System (Lean Manufacturing) Principles to deliver People, Quality, Velocity and Cost (PQVC) improvements
You will spend between 18 months and 2 years on the development scheme. Typically, a first year graduate will complete placements in the following roles:
Supply Chain Planning: You will analyse part consumption and forecast demand to establish the right materials strategy, developing a Plan For Every Part (PFEP). This includes inventory planning and replenishment strategies globally.
Master Production Scheduling (MPS) & Material Planning: MPS Planners are responsible for ensuring there is a consistent build programme for the factory. You will manage the planning of a production area, ensuring capacity constraints are met and that customer requirements are fulfilled through the build programme. In Material Planning you will work with key suppliers to ensure parts are supplied when required.
In addition to placements in these areas, you may also spend part of your graduate scheme working in areas such as procurement, goods inwards and shipping and transportation management.
You may also be offered the opportunity to take time out of supply chain in order to gain a wider view of the business.
Who are we looking for?
You will be motivated, open-minded, hard-working, confident and will embrace change. In return for your dedication and hard work, you will be provided with excellent career opportunities and strong support for your personal and career development.
