This position is for a student trainee to get exposure to design, develop and maintain for software for electronic systems on Caterpillar machine product lines. The candidate will be responsible to document software requirements, test plan development & execution to support caterpillar systems & software teams &/or the candidate will be responsible to develop and maintain software comprised of software written in C and autocode generated from Matlab. 

These positions are open to community college students only.


Required Qualifications:


  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Must have and maintain a 2.8 / 4.0 cumulative GPA
  • Candidate must be enrolled in Electronics Technology, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • Must be a full time student attending a community college within driving distance to the Mossville, IL facility
  • Must be able to work 10-20 hours per week while attending school full time
  • Candidate must have some experience with software programming


Desired Qualifications:


  • Demonstrates leadership
  • Experience with C programming
  • Familiarity in the application of data links such as CAN/J1939 
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Pearl
  • Basic understanding of electronic hardware and/or working in a lab environment
  • Interest in automobile mechanics
  • Strong communication, teamwork and analytical skills


These are part time temporary openings located in Mossville, IL. Relocation is not available.
