Caterpillar’s Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) designs and manufactures diesel engines, ranging from 400 kilowatts to 16 megawatts of power, and key engine systems such as fuel, air, after treatment and cooling which are used to power oil & gas, electric power, marine, rail and Cat machine applications around the world. 

As a Senior Engineer in LPSDs Fuel Systems you will have the opportunity to directly contribute to the concept, development, and design of complex systems for Caterpillar's largest diesel and natural gas engines all while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. You will partner with and provide technical guidance to global teams. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach team members, and broaden your professional network.


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Research and develop new technology
  • Design and promote new components and sub processes 
  • Perform needs analysis and initiate ideas 
  • Evaluate new products, processes, or systems 
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units 
  • Perform product maintenance

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum 
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of experience with diesel engine fuel systems

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Strong working knowledge of Fluid Mechanics
  • 4+ years of experience with engineering processes of Driven Electronic Controlled Unit Injector (MEUI) Fuel Systems
  • 3+ years of experience with Caterpillar NPI methodologies
  • Past experience collaborating with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams
  • Understanding of diesel engine systems controls
  • Experience of testing and verifying implementations in a factory setting
  • History of delivering projects that meet schedule, cost, and quality commitments
  • Fuel systems test machine operations
