Job Description


The role reports to Cat Global Mining and supports the development and execution of industry marketing initiatives for the Surface Mining & Technology Division. The primary focus of the position will be to develop, administer and support marketing communication efforts with the mining go-to-market teams and dealers around the world. The role will also provide general marketing support to the organization.

This diverse and high-paced role requires extensive coordination and collaboration with the Caterpillar industry marketing ecosystem; including Product Groups, Go-to-Market Teams, other Machine Business Divisions, Distribution Services Divisions, Global Aftermarket Division, Marketing & Digital Division, Dealers, creative agencies, trade press, media and industry organizations.    

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Job duties and responsibilities fall in to two main areas:


Go-to-Market and Dealer Marketing Communications

  • Coordinating and serving as the point of contact for and  
  • Executing marketing communication initiatives with the various mining go-to-market teams and dealers
  • Coordinating marketing planning and communication efforts with dealer marketing managers
  • Managing go-to-market team and dealer email distribution lists
  • Maintaining a rolling 2-year planning calendar for customer/dealer programs and events
  • Supporting marketing web & digital strategy execution (eMarketing, social media, media, press, etc.)

Marketing Support

  • Serving as the point of contact for inquiries from mining industry organizations
  • Developing and supporting strategies for execution of regional trade shows and conference
  • Maintaining existing industry relation marketing efforts (“Ground Rules”, SME Mineral Education, etc.)
  • Supporting marketing programs, events and customer visits
  • Supporting the every-four-year MINExpo program (2020, 2024, 20228, etc.)
  • Coordinates marketing supplier payments through the COUPA system


Basic Qualifications: 
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of in a marketing or dealer communication/support role, with demonstrated experience in the aspects of planning, communications, web systems, programs, events, promotions, content development and customer service 

Top candidates will also have:

  • Excellent communication, human relation, project management and customer service skills – with a proven ability to develop a cooperative work relationship both inside and outside the division

  • Previous Caterpillar or Cat Dealer experience or practical experience in the construction and/or mining business (or in a similar B2B type of business)

  • Strong understanding of company products, applications, services, technologies and distribution

  • An understanding and/or experience in working with a complete industry marketing ecosystem (internal marketing support groups/systems and external agency partners)

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing plans, campaigns and initiatives

  • Experience with web systems, especially Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft products including but not limited to; Excel, Word, Powerpoint, One Note, One Drive and SharePoint)

  • Well above average project management and communication (written/verbal) skills

  • Ability to work and think globally, including working within a diverse business environment
