The Product Support & Logistics Division currently has an opening for a Transportation Analyst III located in our Morton, IL facility. As a Transportation Analyst III on the International Trade Lane Management team, you will be responsible for collaborating with our Global Dealer Network and North American Manufacturing facilities on transportation solutions for Caterpillar Prime Product that best meet the dealer’s needs. You will use data driven approaches and analysis to improve the Order to Delivery performance in our Outbound Logistics network.

Job Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the end to end transportation of US sourced Prime Product orders to various dealer locations in a global region.
  • Assume ownership and accountability for dealer orders within assigned Trade Lane.
  • Develop guidelines to train and manage Trade Lane Analyst in support of dealer delivery requirements.
  • Work effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams to apply the supply chain planning process and lead team efforts to develop optimal order-to-delivery transportation flow.
  • Establish metrics to ensure the most effective methods are implemented in reducing in-transit inventory and eliminating waste in the transportation process.
  • Conduct regular governance and performance updates for dealers within assigned Trade Lane.
  • Document process improvements and savings.
  • Establish relationships within the multi-modal transportation network, compliant with the Caterpillar Code of Conduct.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor level Degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain Operations, or Freight Forwarding.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience deploying using 6Sigma methodology.
  • Experience in project management or leading supply chain improvements making the best use of available resources.
  • Previous experience with Tableau.
  • Proficient in Microsoft based applications, PowerPoint, Excel and Word – with specific Excel application functionality experience in data analysis, V-Lookups, and pivot tables to make data driven decisions.

Top candidates will also have:

  • Experience with CMOPS, MACH1, GT Nexus, and Salesforce.
  • Superior understanding of International INCOterms and export regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and rapidly switch between strategic and operational activities.
  • Previous experience managing ocean, rail and/or truck transportation modes and terminology.
  • Previous Import/Export Experience.
  • Experience with the Caterpillar Prime Product Machine lines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in a global environment.
  • Proven customer focus and management skills.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to creatively solve complex problems.
  • Strong organizational skills.
