Job Description


JOB DUTIES:  Train customers and dealers worldwide on MineStar technologies.  Incumbent advises, as internal consultant, corporate training managers and staffs on various training activities, programs, and delivery systems for instructional applications.

Consults with and counsels management on organizational, technical and managerial issues and problems.  Recommends training, involvement strategies, development activities, etc. to improve effectiveness of all levels of employees.

Research information and new material to be used in updating and developing new course presentations, practical tests and associated assessments.

Conducts high-level needs analyses to resolve training and performance issues and problems and recommends appropriate course of action.

Trains conference leaders.  Conducts trainer workshops, seminars and conferences for managers and staff.  Evaluates trainer performance and makes recommendations for improvement.

Develops new training processes and customizes existing training and development programs.

Researches state-of-the-art education and training delivery systems and methodologies to determine application appropriateness for the organization.

Performs multifunctional training activities with various levels of management.  May use outside consulting agencies which may exert a direct influence on the company's ability to identify needed changes and recommend supportive education and training.


Support regional training facilities, with up to date information, equipment, training and course material.

Developing the skills of our production leaders, enabling them to improve productivity within their team

and area.


Provide leadership, counsel, and training expertise to others in the training field.  Beyond the completion of its own work, the position assigns and reviews the day to day work of other employees.  It provides information for performance evaluations but is not solely responsible for personnel issues.



  • Knowledge of various Caterpillar personnel and/or benefits policies and programs
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar functional areas, policies and procedures is required.  
  • A college or university degree or equivalent experience. 
  • Job-related experience is desirable.  
  • Experience with MineStar
  • Ability to initiate communication with others outside immediate work group to work on new ideas or to counsel others.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current training delivery, training needs analysis and training material production techniques is an asset.
