The Product Support & Logistics Division currently has an opening for a Transportation Analyst III located in our Morton, IL facility. The Network Analytics and Business Technology team is responsible for supporting systems, processes, and analytics used during the transportation planning and execution of shipments within Caterpillar’s North American network. The team focuses on ensuring the systems, processes, and analytics are used effectively in order to generate business value and savings while providing superior service and quality to suppliers, carriers, and customers.


Job duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


A Transportation Analyst III is the technical expert for the technology solutions used during transportation planning. These solutions include: JDA TM, JDA FOM, TMOPS/TOCS, Tableau, EDI, forward planning, and ship day of week. This person is responsible for ensuring that the technology solutions are operational and meeting the needs of the customer. Continuous improvement and driving better transportation optimization is an expectation. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that the TM system (and supporting peripheral systems) are functioning effectively and supporting the operations
  • Analyze customer and operational needs and make recommendations for developing, implementing, and/or improving transportation services/operations
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline processes, drive standard work, and eliminate waste
  • Execute or oversee the creation of reports and other performance-based outputs captured from the operational data
  • Lead data analysis projects to provide insights for identify savings and drive continuous improvements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve systems issues
  • Coordinate testing with other technical groups, clients, and users
  • Establish, train, and support suppliers, carriers, customers, etc. on the various systems
  • Map out systems processes and communicate them to end users

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems such as JDA-Transportation Manager
  • Working knowledge of North American Transportation best practices and procedures
  • Strong PC background with working knowledge of databases and spreadsheets


Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Logistics, or Supply Chain
  • Relevant work experience with Load Planning or Transportation Control Initiatives
  • Working knowledge of EDI/ASNs
  • Working knowledge of reporting tools such as Tableau/MS Access/Oracle SQL/MS Excel
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and project management skills
