Job Description



The Productivity and Site Autonomy Market Manager is responsible for:           

Defining the portfolio of digital products that enable construction and quarry and aggregates customers to manage their sites.  This includes defining the products, capabilities and price of the products within the portfolio.

Managing pricing for the Productivity and Autonomy digital tools and solutions.

Driving adoption through the sales and marketing teams (GCI).  This includes determining sales targets and go-to-market funding.

Determining the roadmap from Productivity to Site Automation and Site Autonomy.

Working with Machine Product Groups to drive commercial alignment of the on-machine technology offering.

 Productivity, Automation and Autonomy includes the following products:

  • Cat Productivity (ranging from monitor to command capabilities)

  • Remote Operation Station

The strategy includes analysis of the market arena (customers, competitors and Cat portfolio), segmentation, targeting and positioning.  The deliverable of the strategy is the definition of the products, capabilities and pricing to address the targeted segments.


The market manager will collaborate with the other verticals (Resource Industries, Energy and Transportation and Aftersales), Machine Product Groups and Sales and Marketing global teams.



Product Portfolio Management – Study the customers’ business to determine what set of capabilities would help customers significantly improve their operations.  This includes automation of customer workflow, remote operation and jobsite automation.


Based on the customer research the Market Manager will define the suite of digital capabilities that are needed for each customer industry/segment (Quarry, Industrial, Heavy Civil etc …).



In addition, this role will work with the prime product groups to better align the on-machine technology features, pricing, and commercialization.


Customer Interaction The Market Manager will own the relationship with pioneering customers in the development of Cat productivity and autonomy solutions.  The Market Manager will also be representing Caterpillar at industry events focused on Productivity, Automation and Autonomy.

Business planning Work with the sales and marketing teams (GCI) to provide input on budget and business targets for the current and future business cycles. Work with commercial business manager to establish a global and regional S&OP process for the product group.

NPI Lead the strategy phase and the provide customer input.  Establish and manage a plan for the phase out of old services and the phase in of new versions.  Supporting successful completion of the product development gate reviews.  Work with GCI to craft value messaging and go-to-market. 


Product quality resolution The Product Support team for Productivity and Autonomy may report to the Product Manager or the Market Manager, depending on the conjecture.  The Market Manager will provide input to the CPI list owners on quality issues and support the implementation of Quality fixes.

Team leadership This is a daily activity of coordinating, coaching, allocation resources, etc… for the various teams and work with both direct reports and team members with dotted line accountability.


















  • Understanding of Caterpillar’s traditional business.
  • Understanding of digital or familiarity with productivity solutions is not a requirement but is highly desirable.
