This resource will 1)manage demand intake proposal development, and 2)serve as the project manager for application development projects for Mach1/CGM/CBS Procurement templates.  These demand intakes and projects are for enhancing/improving the template functions, insuring the templates are properly maintained with required technical upgrades, and addressing new business requirements. 

 

This position will also work closely with Procurement application teams primarily located in the Peoria area (e.g. portal, ASC, Indirect applications, sourcing, contracting, etc..) to manage demand intake proposals and project manage application development projects.

  

JOB DUTIES:

This is a staff position that requires an expert in Project Management tools & processes. Included but not limited to: the ability to facilitate projects, lead chartering sessions, develop/validate network diagrams, lead integration and compression sessions.
Specific work assignments may be as follows: Plan and lead program and project planning sessions. The incumbent will function independently in leading a large, diverse program or project planning session. Responsibilities also include preparation and pre-work for the session as well as follow up and action ownership. The position will mentor/coach the leadership team and address leadership issues one-on-one with senior divisional and department management.
The facilitator must have the ability to adapt to diverse business climates. The incumbent must be able to control the planning sessions – able to stop any side bar conversations constructively, and they must be able to keep the team focused on the objectives. Provide input for staffing and support of programs and create accurate and detailed schedules.
The facilitator position must be able to successfully handoff off project to Program Managers or Project Coordinators. The incumbent will also mentor/train Program Manager and Coordinator positions.
Interpret & communicate Voice of the Customer (VOC), Voice of Business (VOB), and Critical Customer Requirements (CCR) to develop a comprehensive Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to reduce program risk and enhance project schedule quality.

Moderate travel required (5% - 15% of working time).


Qualifications

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:


Must have strong project management skills, team leadership skills, excellent communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills. Professional training in leading and facilitating meetings is highly desired.  In addition, six to eight years of progressively responsible job-related experience in multiple business units are typically required.  Must have strong communication, leadership, customer engagement skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or influence others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.  In addition, the incumbent should have a good knowledge of Caterpillar policies and procedures, and a general understanding of Caterpillar’s organization.

 

Required Skills:


•Bachelor's degree
•5+ years of project management experience in the areas of business processes and IT
•1-2 years Leadership experience (supervision, 6 Sigma BB, or PMO)
•Strong customer focus and ability to influence
•Ability to quickly understand technology changes and drive advancement within the organization
•Ability to effectively articulate both technology and business domains
•Knowledge of business operations including the technical infrastructure and general business processes

Desired Skills:


•Certification in Project Management
•Experience with Order Fulfillment and Procurement solutions within Caterpillar
Strong customer focus and ability to influence
Ability to quickly understand technology changes and drive advancement within the organization
Ability to effectively articulate both technology and business domains
Knowledge of business operations including the technical infrastructure and general business processes
