Provides application design and technical
solution leadership in the development of Order Fulfillment and Procurement
applications. Performs business analysis to identify systems solutions to
address business and technical requirements through customer interactions and
by articulating customer expectations to technical teams. Leads the integration/ implementation of
complex, medium to large-sized automated information technology systems.
This position reports to a Senior IT
Manager or IT Manager. Responsibilities of the incumbent vary in breadth and
complexity based on business needs and dependent technologies:
•Competent to perform all systems analysis
and requirements collection, refinement, and articulation; normally assigned
the more complex aspects of systems work.
•Maintain constructive relationships with
business partners and technology groups including Caterpillar business units,
Dealers, external Suppliers and third-party application vendors.
•Create user-stories and functional design
specifications to ensure that development delivery aligns to business
needs. Verify the development and
testing teams understand business requirements and validate that the delivery
•Manage the Software Development Life
Cycle by using SCRUM Methodology.
Incumbent has responsibility to maintain the Product Backlog,
continually improve and champion development processes, communicate and direct
business testing and coordinate user validation testing.
•Perform Project Management tasks
including project scope and estimation, manage stakeholder expectations,
communicate project milestones and status, and ensure overall project delivery
to business needs.
•Design complex system solutions to
satisfy business needs across varied partners which will utilize multiple
layers of technology dependencies including external data sources, third party
software, and core enterprise processes.
•Lead the development team to create high
functioning applications by championing best practices of user experience,
security, scaling, testing, performance, system stability, usability, IT
controls, and zero-defects.

Requires a relevant degree, technical
certification, or equivalent experience. The incumbent should be knowledgeable
of the relevant programming languages; computing hardware and software;
infrastructure elements, and current development processes and tools. Six to ten years in development and support
work is common. Must have strong
communication, leadership, customer engagement skills. In addition, the incumbent should have a good
knowledge of Caterpillar policies and procedures, and a general understanding
of Caterpillar’s organization.

•1-2 years Leadership experience
(supervision, 6 Sigma BB, or PMO)
•Experience with Order Fulfillment and
Procurement solutions within Caterpillar
•Strong customer focus and ability to influence
•Ability to quickly understand technology changes and drive advancement within the organization
•Ability to effectively articulate both technology and business domains
•Knowledge of business operations including the technical infrastructure and general business processes
•Experience with relevant technical deliverables such as data management and relational databases, web development, process mapping and documentation, business and technical writing, data visualization, data analytics, system flows, architecture diagrams, and rapid UI prototyping.
