Job Description:
Responsibility to electrically troubleshoot and repair complex domestic and foreign machine tools and related equipment that perform milling, drilling, and grinding functions to cast iron and steel components. Applicant must possess the ability to troubleshoot CNC/PLC controlled machines with the following components:

  • Type of equipment: Okuma, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis (grinders), Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, and a variety of others in the machine shop.
  • Type of related equipment: P&H cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, washers, ABB robots.

  • CNC and PLC controlled equipment with Fanuc, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and a variety of other controllers on the machines in the machine shop.

  • AC/DC analog and digital drives, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Modicon, Indramat, and various other drives.

  • Measurement and feedback scale and encoder systems, including Heidenhain, inductosyn, and various other feedback devices.

  • Applicant must possess basic mechanical skills and the ability to operate basic tools to complete the job. 

  • Applicant should have experience in laying out and bending and running conduit and pulling wire of all sizes.

  • Candidate must possess and show strong interpersonal skills and apply customer based service.


Job Requirements:

This solicitation is NOT for an electrical apprenticeship program.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have successfully completed an approved electrical apprenticeship program or possess a minimum of five years of experience in the electrical repair of machine tools and related equipment listed in job description.
  • Must be able to prove a strong knowledge and experience of the following.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC/PLC including being able to read and edit code, and go online to various types of controllers using an external device.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and BoschRexroth Power supplies, drives and controls.  Such as Servo and VFD experience troubleshooting, setting up and replacing.
  • Must have strong experience reading and understanding line drawings, electrical prints/schematics and be able to make decisions from that.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot motors and motor controls.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot linear and rotary scales/encoders

Physical Requirements:

  • Must pass the color blindness test
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces


Top candidates will also have:  

  • Electrician certification
  • Self-starter and self motivated individual who works well individually in a team environment
  • Must be willing to work large amounts of overtime opportunities to support production demands

Additional Information:

  • Positions available on 2nd and 3rd Shift

  • Candidates relocating from 75 miles or more from the Lafayette facility are eligible for a $5000 relocation fee
