Position Summary:

The Commercial Leader for Cat Reman will lead a team of approximately 30 management employees at this a global business with revenues in excess of $2 billion. You will collaborate with Product Mangers and the Marketing Manager on overall strategic growth of Reman business globally and collaboration across the enterprise with Machine Business Division, Engine Business Divisions and Industry Division’s to identify opportunities, close gaps, and coordinate execution to growth targets. Growth targets include all Segments and Industries Caterpillar serves and selective external markets.

You will develop global end-to-end strategy and sales execution for Caterpillar Used Equipment Services Inc. (CUESI) to support Electric Power, Marine, & Oil & Gas. You will be Responsible for all External Reman Commercial Growth activity and Global Country Access for Remanufactured finished goods. Reman SME with Corporate Merger & Acquisition on Due Diligence Process to drive growth & synergies with all enterprise targets. This role is responsible for overall Sales growth, External Reman Business and Country Access.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 

  • Reporting to the General Manager, Reman, you will lead a team that includes 2 Commercial Managers, 2 Product/Market Development Managers, an Account Manager, and a Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Developing specific Reman growth strategies, recommendations, and participate in decision making with Machine Business Divisions, Engine Business Divisions, and Industry Divisions to drive growth, reduce customer owning & operating costs, provide customer value, improve customer experience and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Spending significant time working through the Caterpillar and dealer organization matrix, building relationships, anticipating needs, and influencing enterprise decisions related to growth opportunities.
  • Building sound relationship building skills, strategic thinking, innovation, and creativity.
  • Providing overall leadership for Expanded Mining Products, Reman Integrations and is responsible for product support, strategic development and proposing future Reman product offerings and Services
  • Providing worldwide leadership and strategy development for Caterpillar Used Equipment Services Inc. (CUESI). This includes Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, Product Support, develop forecast, achieve annual business plans, managing business to meet revenue & profit targets, product delivery targets, price negotiation with dealers, customers & suppliers, managing inventory, managing period costs, achieving quality goals launching (NPI), and monitoring and understanding strategic industry dynamics.
  • Collaborating with Electric Power Group to provide used Electric Power Generator Sales and Product Support to increase customer satisfaction and improve Cat Electric Power customer experience to influence New Electric Power Generator Sales.
  • Providing leadership to Cat dealers globally to align strategies and develop customized solutions that provide greater value to the customer than the competition.
  • Coordinating with Electric Power Group to develop parts and service marketing strategies, executing merchandising programs, analyzing competitive landscape, product differentiation, and supporting dealer and factory exchange programs to maximize Used Electric Power Generators.
  • The dedicated global sales team works with Cat facilities, enterprise partners, Cat Dealers and Brokers to strategically manage the process and control the disposition of surplus/scrap material to maximize Caterpillar’s value and minimize waste.
  • Responsibility for overall Sales and Pull-Thru of CUESI Business
  • Managing the commercial relationship with external customers (Navistar & Ford) and responsibility for the overall Customer Service efforts for Cat Remanufacturing Services.
  • Engaging in development and achieving annual business plans, product delivery targets, pricing, achieving quality goals, launching (NPI), and monitoring and understanding strategic direction of key customers & suppliers.
  • Interacting with OEM Executive Management at Navistar which requires effective relationship building and communications skills.
  • Setting priorities and impacting Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Cost Savings, and Vendor Certification, etc.
  • Responsibility for overall Sales and P&L of External Reman Business
  • Managing and influencing global Reman country access and acceptance of Reman finished goods and core return.
  • Related to corporate growth, this role is the Reman SME for Corporate Mergers & Acquisition Due Diligence Process and coordinates Reman activity and report-out as necessary for all enterprise targets that effect Reman.
  • Traveling at least 15-30% of the time


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors’ degree - business, marketing or a related field is highly desirable.
  • A career path through marketing or commercial functions.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • A minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience with equivalent knowledge of parts management functions, parts marketing techniques, the parts distribution system and dealer and customer needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to manage sensitive issues and to communicate with internal and external senior management.
  • Collaborative, with excellent communications skills at all levels of the organization, and ability to build strong relationships with employees, leaders, dealers, and customers.
  • Technical & industry knowledge, direct sales, commercial, product support, dealer and customer experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ideally has knowledge of Caterpillar organization, products, policies, and procedures or has worked for a similar global, matrixed organization.
  • Ability to provide servant leadership, positive work climate and inspiration to create motivated workforce.
  • Proven ability to take responsibility for strategic planning within 1-5-year time horizon.

  • Dealership experience.
  • Experience in a global manufacturing setting.
