Job duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

In this position, you will perform a variety of inspection functions to check the quality and accuracy of in-process parts, assemblies, materials, and prime products released to production. You will be responsible for analyzing special problems arising from faulty methods, defective materials, assembly difficulties, and Field Service complaints, while recommending corrective measures.

You will be responsible for auditing and analyzing data where quality of work produced is poor or erratic. Initiating or recommending changes. Laying out parts using advanced mathematical calculations and precision inspection equipment to properly check dimensions and relationships. This position requires utilization of master gauges and measuring equipment and performing liquid penetrate inspections and magnetic particle inspections.

The position may also require use of jib or overhead crane to manually position work pieces and use of a forklift.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of previous experience in Machining and Manufacturing

  • Experience with inside and outside micrometers, indicators, hardness testing equipment and profile gauges.

  • Ability to perform basic math and simple computer operations.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Ability to demonstrate basic machine shop practices.

  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of machining terminology and procedures.

  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Walk, squat, and bend over for intervals at a time and work at heights.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work overtime to support production demands.

Additional Information:

This position is located at the Caterpillar manufacturing facility located in South Milwaukee, WI and is part of Caterpillar's Surface Mining & Technology Division. This 2nd shift position (3pm-11pm) starts at $23.46 plus shift premium of $0.70 and includes immediate benefits, such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a matching Tax-Deferred Savings Plan. No relocation assistance is available.
