The Product Support & Logistics Division currently has an opening for a Distribution Consultant in our Morton, IL facility.

 

As a Distribution Consultant in the Parts Inventory Collaboration (PIC) systems team at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to provide technical and functional leadership to a global team. This position will play an active role as a technical expert and/or project manager on a variety of initiatives within the PIC systems team.  Initiatives include:  providing technical expertise for the deployment and maintenance of four dealer data domains; prioritizing, defining, managing and executing critical system enhancement initiatives in various systems (both internal and external) as part of the end-to-end integrated PIC solution; managing PIC redeployments to support dealer ERP conversions; vendor management; providing technical and functional expertise to dealers and internal partners on the end-to-end PIC systems solution; and providing support to groups from various divisions with adhoc analysis that integrates dealer data with Caterpillar data to produce end to end supply chain views. 

 
 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical and functional leadership to internal support teams, GASD, DSDs, and dealers as a recognized PIC expert.
  • Providing project management, technical expertise, and validation of Parts Data Interface (PDI) dealer data domains to new dealers.
  • Defining, validating, and coordinating implementation of changes required to various systems (both internal and external) that make up the end to end integrated PIC solution.
  • Developing strategies for future PIC enhancements that support Caterpillar and dealer strategic requirements.
  • Providing project management and functional expertise for PIC redeployments to support ERP conversions for live PIC dealers.
  • Performing adhoc analysis and reporting to support  a variety of requests from teams across Caterpillar working on various strategic initiatives.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited university
  • Experience in the analysis of logistics functions (i.e., parts distribution operations, inventory control, transportation planning, etc.)
  • Experience in technical roles facing IT teams (defining system requirements, system testing / validations, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Experience in leadership roles (team lead, project management, supervision, etc.)
 
Top candidates will also have:
  • Parts inventory management experience
  • Experience writing SAS code
  • Knowledge of dealer business practices or systems
  • Strong organizational and technical skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Positive attitude with a passion for teaching others
  • Ability to navigate difficult situations with professionalism
