To provide overall managerial direction for CXL’s facility engineering, maintenance and EHS organization. The incumbent is accountable for CXL facility engineering, maintenance processes and EHS compliance and operations through providing direction, focus, motivation, and encouragement for subordinates in related functions.
JOB RELATED STATISTICS:
Personnel: 30+ management and salaried, around 100 hourly employees
Responsible for all building related planning, maintenance, utilities and both factory and office layouts. Interacts with related managers to address all facility layout and rearrangement issues. Decisions regarding cost effective solutions for layouts and repairs of buildings are included in these responsibilities.
This position is responsible for ensuring necessary maintenance is provided to keep the facility, machine tools, and equipment in operating condition. Due to the critical urgency of equipment uptime and the facilities combination of fabrication, large scale machining, painting, assembly, and distribution operations, considerable emphasis is placed on preventive maintenance and expeditious emergency repairs.
Provides planning direction regarding equipment condition and identifies potential equipment replacement needs. Maintain all indirect inventories necessary for machine repairs. Coordinates all contract maintenance activity with external suppliers to achieve cost effective solutions.
The incumbent will develop EHS professionals and facilitate collaborative relationships within the work group, with facility leaders, cross functional groups as well as related government authorities to ensure goals are achieved. Incumbent needs a breadth of EHS knowledge and experience including regulations, programs and policies.
Incumbent will oversee planning and implementation of EHS programs, monitor conformance with enterprise procedures, ensure compliance to government requirements and regulations, and achieve facility EHS objectives. Incumbent must engage various levels of facility leadership to take appropriate actions to raise awareness of risks and protect employees from hazards in the workplace and risks to the environment.
Ensure and implement new technologies and continual improvements on the various processes to improve quality and reduce costs.
The position manages a department through subordinate supervisors/managers and professionals. The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.
The position often confronts complex issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, etc.
The position requires an engineering or manufacturing background plus familiarity with company manufacturing facilities, processes, equipment and processes. Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures is
required. A strong understanding of EHS regulations is essential. The position typically requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience. In addition, eight to twelve years of progressively responsible job-related experience are typically required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.
