The Student Trainee Program allows students the opportunity to work at Caterpillar while going to school.

Analytics Professionals are the data driven, business professionals using quantitative methods such as business simulations, data mining, and advanced statistical techniques to solve problems for internal business partners and external Caterpillar customers.   As a part of our team, you will be immersed in our business and introduced to our analytics tools and techniques, enabling you to provide data driven insights that drive daily business decisions.

High School students considered for Analytics positions should have a basic understanding of computer programming. All positions require working in a team environment on challenging technical problems. Responsibilities vary from job to job but may include: analysis and testing; project work on research and development; or design exploration.
Considerations include education or experience in computer programming. In addition, successful performance requires sound judgment, motivation, effective interaction with others and the ability to handle an array of responsibilities.
These positions are open to high school junior/senior students only.


Required Qualifications:
  • Must be 16 years of age by start date
  • Must have and maintain a 2.8 / 4.0 cumulative GPA
  • Must be a full-time student attending a high school within driving distance to the Champaign, IL Facility
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week
  • Working knowledge of Python
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud technologies
  • Working knowledge of message brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, Kinesis, Etc
  • Working knowledge of relational SQL databases like Oracle, mySQL, Teradata, etc
  • Familiarity with GIT or other version control software packages
  • Familiarity with python libraries like numpy, pandas, celery, etc
  • Familiarity with Javascript
These are part time temporary openings located in the Champaign, IL. Relocation is not available.
