Description

As a Senior Analyst - Tax COE at Caterpillar, you will support Global Tax compliance and planning initiatives. Provide support in minimizing the legal tax liability to the company. Perform and support all tax activities through analysis and preparation of working papers, schedules, tax returns and research studies.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Provide tax expertise on regulatory compliance and reporting requirements
* Drive process improvements and efficiencies through the tax lifecycle
* Support the required compliance filings including maintaining proper documentation to sustain calculations
* Process returns and other output reporting on a timely and accurate basis across the tax calendar and lifecycle
* Originate and lead process improvement projects and provides data and technology expertise across Global Tax
* Collect, review, analyze and process financial information used to prepare income tax returns

* Prepare supporting data and work papers as documentation of filing positions and to respond to queries from auditors or other external parties
* Provide tactical support to tax consultants and managers, as well as other Caterpillar business partners on tax requirements to comply with regulations and internal control practices
* Support management with repatriation efforts, compliance, due diligence and integration efforts relating to mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations
* Identify and manage implementation of process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency in the tax compliance processes
* Support controversy teams on complex tax audits and responsible for defense of less complex filing positions, compliance obligations and computations with local tax authorities
* Challenge excessive assessments proposed by auditors and other governing authorities to negotiate equitable audit settlements and resolutions
* Participate, support and lead team meetings and projects
* Provide information and analysis to leadership in the development and implementation of tax reduction planning strategies
* Conduct research for business unit and global tax impacts, including legal entity and supply chain reorganizations and compliance management
* Possible areas may include but are not limited to: supporting tax leadership on annual financial statement reporting and controls; providing leadership on financial issues in areas such as tax and financial systems; communicating to a broader global audience; supporting provision of business analysis for more complex business studies with multiple issues.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's level degree in Accounting; Non-Accounting degree requires 18 hours of core accounting courses or approved certification (CPA/CMA)

* 2-4 years of Tax or Accounting related experience

 

Desired Qualifications:

* Prior experience in federal, state or international tax law applications

* Knowledge of company organization and accounting practices
* Advanced personal computer skills
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Strengths in initiative and leadership
