The Product Supply & Logistics Division was established to bring the same supply chain know-how to other Caterpillar companies and decision makers. Today, this team provides fully integrated supply chain solutions incorporating information technology, warehouse management, transportation management, inventory management, packaging design and product support, with operations in multiple facilities across the world.

Function description

Focused improvement on Inbound Packaging into our Re-Packing and Distribution Centres, to reduce the Total Landed Costs, through reduced Freight, Material and Operational Cost Reduction. Primary focus will be working on the following:

  • Challenge current Packaging methods, wood, carton etc…

  • Analysis, improve the way of delivering material to the Contract Packers and Distribution Centres

    • Materials used / Pallet quantities used / Maximum stack heights

  • Analysis, improve Supplier Shelf Ready Packaging opportunities from a material and labour perspective to reduce operating costs

    • Impact on safety, quality, operational efficiency to be considered and optimised

  • Supplier shelf ready packaging opportunities from a material and labour perspective to reduce operating cost

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform activities to ensure parts are protected, shipped, and delivered fit for use.
  • Design packaging for transport efficiency
  • Perform containerization analysis, testing, and quoting
  • Design bespoke packaging with indirect packaging suppliers and obtain best quotation, considering safety, quality, technical ability and supplier performance
  • Validate new packaging during pilot phase
  • Coordinate with operations for storage and ergonomic considerations
  • Resolve safety and or quality issues caused by current packaging / Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners
  • Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements   
  • Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors and purchasing



  • Preferable minimum bachelor’s degree or suitable equivalent experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills / Effective verbal & written communication / Flexible, team player, positive attitude

  • Professional approach with diverse colleagues and key relationships / Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative

  • Clear understanding of Logistics & Manufacturing technical points and packaging solutions

  • Read and understand technical drawings (Creo, Pro E or CAD drawing)

  • Some travel required (up to 25% working time)
