JOB PURPOSE: Provide and Coordinate the contractual required core engine, mechanical engineering drawings, documentation for complete scope of supply for all Electric Power/Oil gas orders managed from the Asia Pacific region. Beyond the engineering functions, this position is to provide order execution and presales support as required for MSE Asia Electric Power projects and oil gas offshore projects, to ensure we only commit to orders that are within the Caterpillar Motoren capability.
JOB DUTIES: Provide mechanical design by 2D/3D drawings (engine arrangement, cooling system, fuel oil system, lubrication system, exhaust gas system, starting air system & Combined Cycle“ etc. by AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo and various calculation (heat balance, alignment, back pressure, ventilation volume, fuel/lube oil consumption etc.) for engine and A&I design in Asia Pacific for the Electric Power /Oil gas segment to ensure that all technical and engineering issues are executed according to contractual requirements and presales needs. This includes taking technical support to ensure consortium and ancillary equipment meet all design and interface requirements. Work closely with the engineering manager/senior mechanical engineer (Shanghai team and Kiel team) to leverage a common regional approach to engineering issues and designs. Promote cost effective designs. Utilize common engineering designs wherever possible to save engineering time and improve efficiencies and quality. Ensure technical specifications for such goods are complete.
Management / People Skills: Must be able to work within a team environment with strong interpersonal skills to engage team members. Must be able to engage with customers in a professional and competent manner for technical and sale support issues. Maintain positive working relationships with the KEC, CMTS as required to ensure the development of the Electric Power business. Willingness to travel around the world (approx. 5%-15% of working time)
This position requires extensive technical knowledge of the Electric Power and oil gas offshore medium speed engine business and related engineering and shipboard systems. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of industry experience in this field with prior technical experience and related knowledge of engine and ancillary system designs and applications. Minimum requirements include good communication skills, and broad knowledge of design tools including AUTOCAD, Inventor, Creo at least. An ability to effectively and rationally communicate verbally and in writing with both English-speaking personnel and those who have English, as a second language is required.
