JOB PURPOSE:

This position represents Caterpillar relative to working directly with world-class mining companies, Dealers and the mining MTES regional sales team in leading discussions and sales of mining Surface Command Technology solutions globally – specifically with the Autonomous Drill System. This position will liaise with Caterpillar business units and dealers to pursue dealer development activities, as well as product support activities for MTES.

Sales: $5 – $7 Million
 

JOB DUTIES:

Leads the discussion of Surface Command autonomy sales, identifying and showing the value to the customer.

 

Participates on behalf of and commits Caterpillar in direct customer, dealer in surface autonomy systems development negotiations and growth agreements.

 

Provides input to MTES product business units concerning new product development, new product

requirements, anti-competitive strategies, and pricing.

 

Supports the MTES Area Sales Managers with surface autonomy systems sales support of key mining customers and dealers.

 

Supervises the MTES business development reps, who work with area sales reps on the overall value of the surface autonomy systems and strategies, communicating with dealer and customer leadership teams.

 

Spearheads the introduction of new surface mining systems, products, services, and differentiating Cat’s technologies surface offerings vs the competition to the customer.

 

The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others.

Represents MTES on other key corporate activities related to mining surface autonomy systems.

 

The position's primary customers are Global Mining Customers, Dealers and secondarily MTES Area Managers. The position is challenged to identify and demonstrate the value of the Caterpillar Surface Autonomy System and quickly and correctly identify problems, which may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results.  Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, etc. The position works to refine processes or procedures to ensure the best use of resources and technology in meeting the quality goals. The position travels extensively; at least one full week each month. Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 15 plus years of mining industry experience supporting operations to improve productivity and lower operating cost
  • 10 years of cooperative working relationships both internally and with dealers and                customers
  • 8 years’ experience in conducting site performance studies
  • 3+ years’ experience in technical sales support

 
Top Candidates will also have

  • Supervisory experience a plus
  • Thorough (10 years) knowledge of the Cat Mining Technology Enabled Solutions for              Surface Command products and solutions or  related industry leading technology offerings
  • Strong Dealer knowledge / experience (10 plus years) a positive
  • Thorough (10 years) knowledge of mining applications and best practices
  • 12 – 15 years progressively responsible job related experience preferred
