Caterpillar Oil, Gas & Marine Division currently has an opening for a Section Manager position supporting Remanufactured Drivetrain products located in the West Fargo, ND facility.  In this role, you will directly supervise a production assembly area, leading up to 30 assemblers. With support, this Section Manager will report out to senior leadership on KPI’s related Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost initiatives. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly supervise a production assembly area, supporting and guiding up to 30 Assemblers.
  • Work together with other Section Managers to assist with Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost initiatives.
    • Safety observation tracking and Safety STF follow up.
    • Postings – support with recruiter interfacing, work candidate lists, do scoring of job bids.
    • Monitor quality data by badge number and assist with follow up.
    • Track progress of ICA and PCA actions for BIQ.
    • Monitor DPU by area.
    • Follow RCCA for missed RTS (Right Part Right Time).
  • Commit to monitors and improves shop floor safety, eliminates unsafe processes;
  • Assures fixtures, tooling and processes are followed to meet production schedules;
  • Determines priorities and sequences jobs;
  • Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate;
  • Procures and distributes production material to meet schedules;
  • Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule;
  • Implements, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification and others; and Evaluates, assess, identifies and leads the deployment of workforce training.
  • Responsible for Section Value Stream Mapping;
  • Enthusiastically deploys section value stream improvements;
  • Practices and teaches CPS Guiding Principles;
  • Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members;
  • Drives root cause corrective action projects and responsible for continuous improvement;
  • Leads section status reporting and monitors / audits section metrics; and Leads the creation, implementation and training of standard work procedures.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5+ years' of job related experience (preferred production assembly experience)
  • 3+ years' of Team Lead/Floater and/or Supervisory role 
 Top Candidates will also have:
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the areas Quality, Distribution and Maintenance.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
