Job Description


As a Business Process Analyst II – Horizon Plan manager, you are responsible to ensure the accurate completion of SAP-based Order Management Process (OMP) change requests and projects, through monthly and weekly releases.

This includes assigning workload to team members, ensuring documented processes are followed and accurate, and ensuring changes are compliant with business and Sarbanes Oxley processes.   This position supports the Engine “quote to cash” process.


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

This position works within OMP ECC (with the Senior Business Process Analysts and CPD), along with GIS, and 3rd Party providers (Deloitte & IBM) for each release.


Major Activities: 

  1. Plans monthly and yearly ECC releases based on business priority, distributing to Business Analysts based on workload
  2. Ensure Business and GIS follow documented change process and release deadlines are met
    1. Hosts weekly status meetings with Business and GIS
    2. Document and communicate business issues to technical team and vice versa for issue resolution
    3. Ensure changes are compliant with business and SOx processes
  3. Reduce work-around processes to simplify quote to invoice process
  4. Single point of contact for Horizon Plan ECC changes and status updates

The incumbent interacts with experienced internal and external end-users to investigate and resolve system issues.  Typical internal customers include various contacts in Caterpillar worldwide operations, not limited to: dealers, engineers, shipping and scheduling personnel, order analysts, and billing and account coordinators. 


The position is challenged to carefully evaluate problems and review a large number of possible solutions before selecting one option.  Problems may be complex and can require the incumbent to develop solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. He or she impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, and Other Measures.  Services provided must comply with Sarbanes Oxley rules. The position works to develop innovative processes and/or methods to best use resources or technology in meeting quality goals.  Process / system modifications often create significant change management issues.  As a result, the Business Process Analyst II is in a key position to ensure accurate releases for Commercial Process Division.


Basic qualifications:

* 4 year college degree concentrated in Business Administration, Information Technology or related fields
* 2-3 years project management experience


Top candidates will also have:

* Project Manager Certification

* Prior experience working in SAP Sales and Distribution Module (3+years)

* Knowledge of various Caterpillar Engine products, product applications and pricing

* Intermediate understanding of global engine order fulfillment and business processes

* Demonstrated initiative and results oriented

* Strong analytical ability or SQL and Excel skills

* Strong oral and written communication skills
